The Streets Are Bare And Everywhere The Trees Are Full Of Strangers

Les Mis closes today. I can't believe it. All this work and stress for 4 shows total. It's a little ridiculous, but it's been so much fun. I'm a little nervous because basically everyone important to me is coming to the last show today.

My throat is a little shot from last night's extremely chill but extremely illegal activities. Last night was nothing special, no adventures, just an average Hicktown Staturday night: drinking in the hot tub of a rich buddy.

If you know Les Miserables, then you know that the title is a play on words of one of the songs that my character sings. It's called "On My Own" and the actual line is "the trees are bare and everywhere the streets are full of strangers" but we discovered during rehearsal, much to our delight, that by switching 'trees' and 'streets' you end up with a rather funny statement.

Anyway, this is a picture from Friday's show:

"Hi, I'm Eponine and I die in act 2."

My friend who play Marius always cries during that scene. It's a killer. The guy who play Jean Valjean (for those of you who aren't familiar, he is the main character and he dies at the end) always cries during the last scene too. I didn't know he was going to do that, and at one point in the scene I'm supposed to walk up beside him and take his hand, so when I did that during our first performance, he looked up into my eyes and I saw tears all over his face and I almost missed my cue. He threw me for a loop there, wasn't expecting that. Pahaha.

It's ok, though, because we always get the audience sobbing by that final number. I think this is possibly the best production I've ever been in.

I'm happy the production is ending, but I don't want it to be over quite yet, you know?

Off to pound some tea with an ungodly amount of honey. Peace bro.

  1. Wow, Les Mis sounds immense. Really glad it's going well! A man that can cry at will, that's an impressive skill to have!
