According to 90's pop culture, chores are supposed to be, like, gross. Especially the dreaded cleaning of the bedroom (insert screams of terror here). However, my screwed-beyond-repair brain has somehow wired itself to contradict 90's pop culture's perception of this task, and I must say that I genuinely enjoy cleaning my room, I even did it without anyone asking me to, though earlier tonight my room looked like every other teen's room in the world: like a very concentrated magnitude 5 earthquake had hit it (again with the screams of terror).
I find the process of sorting, discarding, organizing, and rearranging to be very relaxing and sort of theraputic. It always puts my life into perspective, because though I may forget sometimes, when I clean I am reminded that my life is merely an accumulation of stuff. Just stuff; clothing, papers, CDs, books, random drawings. I know that there's more to it than that but seeing all of it and how disposable it all is serves as a good reminder of my place in the universe.
I sound so pessimistic! I truly like my little niche in the world, though it may be tiny, it's mine :)
Also, it's always good to have hygenic quarters especially when I spend 90% of my time at home shut up in them. What can I say? I like my quiet time.
In other news, I have a date with Ex on Friday night. And he asked me! I think I may need to stop referring to him as Ex soon... who knows.
Lollup lollup lolilollup (the sound little kids make when playing in mud)
"Oh dear!" (The sound their mothers make)

PS: I listened to Psapp, who are a delightful British indie band that utilize non-instrument noises in their music the whole time that I was cleaning. Listen to "Hi", "Tricycle", and "Eating Spiders" by them. Do it. NOW.
:O
ReplyDeleteI feel the same exact way about cleaning. It makes you think straight, you know?
And OMIGOD you must tell how the date goes. Seriously. The whole you-and-him-ballroom-dancing-thing was TOO sweet! Hearing that sweet things like that still happen just made my day :)
I HAVE A DATE FRIDAY NIGHT TOO.
