My first real summer adventure (that didn't involve butterfly murder) has officially happened!
My darling friend Lily called me up and was rather upset due to some issues surrounding her boyfriend, so she came over, and I comforted her, and we took care of the situation, and then walked to the mall. Now this walk was not just your everyday, Joe Shmoe trip to the local mall, this walk was actually a phenomenon dubbed "Ranty Time".
*you have to imagine this being said by a commentator on a nature film*
During "Ranty Time", the teenaged girl and her companion begin to walk at a fast pace towards whatever destination they are aiming towards. Their conversation begins casually, but soon is escalated by both girls into a heated rant. The girls talk loudly and angrily in order to vent their frustrations to each other. As this happens, their pace quickens and the two girls are able to cover much longer distances in a very short amount of time. Onlookers stare awkwardly at the two angry girls as the pass, but the girls are consumed with their emotional spewing. "Ranty Time" is a bimonthly habitual process that results in a cleansed, happy feeling for both teenagers. Though teenaged boys find the phenomenon to be terrifying and often attribute it to PMS, teenaged girls know that "Ranty Time" is simply an emotional outlet and is purely a therapeutic process.
*and the imaginary film is over*
We went to the mall and got a lot of lipgloss. It was a good time.
It was at this time that we were phoned by a few of our friends from another high school in Hicktown, so we met up with them in northern Hicktown, which is the sketchier part of town. We went park-hopping, which is basically driving to every playground you can think of, hanging out on the jungle gym for a while, and then moving on to a new location.
We played groundies at the first park. None of us had played since we were little. Do little kids play groundies in Britain? Basically, groundies is a game where one person is on the ground, they're 'it', and everyone else is on the jungle gym. While whoever's 'it' is on the ground, they have their eyes open, but if they climb up on the jungle gym, they have to keep their eyes shut and feel around. If the 'it' person hears anyone else on the ground, then they yell "groundies" and whoever was on the ground becomes the new 'it'. The goal of the entire game is to tag one person, or catch them on the ground, so that the become 'it'. TONS OF FUN :)
Now this entire night, it had been Me, Lily, and 3 guys. Guy #1 was more interested in smoking until his lungs became paralyzed than in getting any action, however Guy #2 was all over Lily from the get-go, and Guy #3, who was definitely not bad looking, had been hinting at me all night. At one point everyone was sort of separated from each other; Lily and Guy#2 by a tree, Guy #1 on the slide, and Guy #3 and I in his car.
Gratuitous making out ensues!
And then Guy #1 and Guy #2 had to leave, so Lily and I went home.
Groundies? Playgrounds? New friends? All in one night?? Yes sir. I think it's going to be a good summer!
Fun Fun Fun,
Julia
